TALKS & PRESENTATIONS

UPCOMING PRESENTATIONS

All of my presentations focus on my experiences as a concerned witness photographing social and environmental issues, sharing what I’ve learned in the process. Presentation topics range from the various issues themselves (usually conservation or food/agriculture) to photographic process to the importance of local communities in global conservation to the business of assignment and documentary photography in this new media environment—all in the context of an attempt to provoke more informed and impassioned conversations on the issues represented in my subjects.

Bringing Issues to Light
As media evolves, technology becomes more accessible, and audiences become more sophisticated, what does that mean for how we communicate about things that matter? Join Steve Katz (publisher of Mother Jones) and two co-founders of Take One Creative, Hal Clifford (eel*water*rock*man and The Next Best West) and Jason Houston (eel*water*rock*man and People of the Forest; picture editor at Orion) for a lively Q&A driven discussion on how meaningful stories and creative approaches can earn an audience in a noisy, crowded media environment in order to inspire, inform and provoke positive change in the world.
