About Jason Houston: :: Brief Biography ::

I began my career and continue to spend much of my professional time photographing long-term personal projects and editorial/NGO assignments. My images have been used thousands of times in hundreds of projects by clients including print, broadcast, and online editorial outlets as well as non-profits, NGOs, and mission driven companies concerned with a variety of issues.

In addition to my own photography I have also worked commercially and editorially in art direction and design for a handful of publishers and small to mid-sized companies. I'm currently picture editor at Orion magazine, a non-profit, non-commercial (no-advertising), award-winning bi-monthly periodical examining the contemporary relationships between people and nature through a diverse array of cultural lenses.

It is my goal to combine my different experiences in various aspects of the photography industry to continue finding and funding my own good work while at the same time supporting others who are also committed to doing good work.

I am a professional member of the National Press Photographers Association, accredited as a platinum member with Canon's Professional Services, and am an advisory board member for the Blue Earth Alliance.
